Cars in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers stated they were alerted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
